| Mount Toby Friends' budget has two sections for support of organizations. One section includes support for New England Yearly Meeting, Friends General Conference, Friends World Committee for Consulation, and our Connecticut Valley Quarterly Meeting. The other section, titled Friends' Concerns, includes support for other organizations, for which a Mount Toby contact person or liaison interprets the organization in a special Meeting for Business and throughout the year. The table below gives some basic information about the organizations in this Friends' Concerns section of the budget. Friends are encouraged to support these organizations personally. | |

| Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP): Mount Toby Friends Meeting sponsors a group of experienced facilitators who conduct workshops on exploring creative alternatives to violence at a nearby prison. In general, two of our outside trainers work with two or three inmate trainers to run a weekend workshop that emphasizes the participants' respect for self and others, communication skills, analysis of potentially violent situations, and finding new ways of dealing with conflict. | George and Ann Levinger, and Claude Tellier, in Mount Toby. Amherst Interfaith Service Council: Mission Statement : The Interfaith Service Council is open to members of all faith communities in Amherst and the surrounding area. From individual commitment to our various faiths, we acknowledge a shared responsibility to further social harmony, religious harmony, racial justice, economic justice, peaceful resolution of conflict, and improve the overall quality of life in our area . We carry out this responsibility by interfaith cooperation and participation in programs and events that serve spiritual, social, and material needs in our community.

| The Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Breakfast in Amherst honors the memory of Dr. King and gives scholarships to area high school students who exemplify his values and a citizenship award to an individual. Mt. Toby Meeting honors King and shows its support for the event by buying an ad in the program. |

First Day School Christmas project: Each year the First Day School puts on a fund-raising event (craft sales, for example) and donates the proceeds to an organization or organizations selected by the young people. |

The Friends Committee on National Legislation is a non partisan Quaker lobby, which seeks to follow the leadings of the spirit as it speaks for itself and for like-minded Friends. Views in their publications are guided by the Statement of Legislative Policy which is prepared and approved by FCNL 's General Committee, which includes Friends appointed by 26 YMs. They publish Washington Newsletter monthly, and a weekly email message. more.. |

The mission of Quaker Bolivia Link (QBL) is to reduce poverty among the indigenous peoples of Bolivia. It funds, supervises and evaluates community-initiated projects primarily in agriculture, education and health. By empowering rural women, families and communities, QBL promotes the preservation of indigenous cultures and languages. QBL listens to the needs and concerns of marginalized people. | The Quaker Inner City School Endowment Fund (QICSEF) helps 5 inner-city schools build endowment for long-term financial security. Inner-city children live surrounded by crime, drugs, racial tensions and unemployment - they benefit from the spirit and procedures found in Friends' schools.
